ABOUT US
Soroptimist means "best for women" and this is what the organization has tried to be since its founding in 1921. Now about 95,000 Soroptimist women, living in 120 countries and territories throughout the world, contribute their time and financial support to community based and international projects that benefit women and girls.
Soroptimist International is a volunteer organization of business and professional women who strive to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world. This is the goal because women and girls need our help. Men, women, boys and girls live in poverty, face discrimination and have to overcome obstacles. But, throughout history, in every country in the world, women and girls face additional obstacles and discrimination because of their gender. Through international partnerships and a global network of members, Soroptimist women inspire action and create opportunities to transform the lives of women and girls by; advocating for equity and equality; creating safe and healthy environments; increasing access to education; developing leadership and practical skills for a sustainable future.

Soroptimist International of Indianapolis Metro (SI Indy Metro) was rechartered on June 5, 2010. We are dedicated to embracing the mission of improving the lives of women and girls while engaging in our motto, "The Fun Starts Here!" Our club enjoys great diversity as our members represent a wide range of professions, ages, and ethnic backgrounds. We all work together energetically to advance our common goals. We also partner with other non-profit organizations to help accomplish our mission in helping women and girls be their best.

Members are active in raising funds for and providing services to activities and organizations which assist "at-risk" women and children in our community and worldwide.
